All the bright lights of the heavens I will make dark over you, And bring darkness upon your land,” Says the Lord God.” Ezekiel 32:8 NKJV

Some people looked at the eclipse today as a spiritual experience, some felt there was a shift in the atmosphere, like there is now a new beginning, others were just excited to see a once in a life time event. I live in an area where we were in the path of totality, so it was pretty exciting. It lasted for about four minutes.

I read a post on Facebook commenting on the “fact that for 4 minutes, there was peace. There was togetherness. There was joy. There was no fighting. There was no hate. Just love and awe. God brought us all together in harmony. It was a beautiful thing.”

At the beginning, it was hard to tell anything was happening. My husband and I were trying to see the reflection of the eclipse in a bucket of water, but every time I looked, the breeze was moving the water too much. There was a bit of excitement in the air even if it was just my husband, dog and I together sharing the experience, along with my daughter sending me pictures. Her and her boys had glasses.

However, as the moment of totality got closer we noticed our neighbors on both sides of us and some across the street came out wearing their glasses. The neighbors right next door to us on one side are the Coffey sisters, who are twins and in their 90s. It was awesome to see their excitement! There are so many who witnessed the total eclipse today that will not be here when the next one comes and they know it. We aren’t guaranteed tomorrow, but it is hard to believe for so many of us that we won’t be here as it won’t happen in the US until 2045.

The neighbors on the other side of us, bought a pack of glasses and they had extra to give us. That changed our whole experience! It was so cool to watch the moon as it passed over the sun. It was quite amazing to see how much light was still given off when only a sliver of the sun was showing!

Imagine, if you couldn’t predict an eclipse was coming, a total eclipse! Imagine you didn’t have glasses to see how much of the sun was covered, be able to tell how long it takes before it gets dark, and how long the darkness will last.

The only thing you would be aware of would be the darkness when it comes. It would be quite terrifying if you didn’t know how it got dark, why, or how long it would be dark. I was quite amazed how dark it got and how the birds acted.

There will come a day when darkness comes for some and light will not reappear. There are some who are sitting in darkness now and can’t even comprehend the light that is to come.

”And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” John 1:5 NKJV

It doesn’t take much to see that the world is going through some pretty dark times. It is more apparent now than ever that those who claim to follow and have a relationship with Jesus need, not only let the light of the Son to shine in their lives, but to start passing out the glasses (God’s Word) to show others, there isn’t much time before totality is is here. The fullness of time.

”that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him.“ Ephesians 1:10 NKJV

There will come a time when nothing will matter more than giving to others so that they can see the reality that is around them because the breeze that is blowing has been distorting the truth.

”What sorrow for those who say that evil is good and good is evil, that dark is light and light is dark, that bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter.” Isaiah 5:20 NLT

I’ve never been one of those dooms day sayers, or believed myself to be a conspiracy theorist, however, weather it is in the next five minutes or 1,000 years from now, Jesus is coming! We need to be prepared. If it isn’t for another 1,000 years, we need to continue to pass down the information we know to the next generation. We don’t know the time or the hour which is why it is more important to be prepared.

”“However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows.“ Mark 13:32 NLT

If the end is in the next 5 minutes, are you ready to see Jesus today? My husband said to me at Easter, he believes this is our last Easter! As much as I believe in Jesus and feel strong in my faith, when it comes to “the end” fear grips my heart. I don’t like to admit it, but it does. When th fear comes I’m learning enough to turn to the Lord even more knowing the fear comes from the devil himself. The shadows are long and reaching, but there’s nothing when you live in the light.

”For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.“ II Timothy 1:7 NKJV

As we watched this event, my husband and I actually had an eclipse song playlist playing. One song we listened to was Reverend Peyton’ Big Damn Band, “You Can’t Steal My Shine.” And that’s how it should be, we must not let our shine be lost or stolen in these days we are living in.

Where does your hope and future lie? Mine lies in the giver of light! Let yours shine!!
